Volunteer Grants 2023-2024

Expressions of interest for Volunteer Grants 2023-2024 are now closed.

Grants of between $1000 and $5000 are available to help community organisations to support their volunteers. The grants can be used to buy small equipment for volunteers or for the reimbursement of volunteer fuel, transport, or training costs. Grants can also be used to promote awareness and increase participation in volunteering opportunities.

EOIs must be submitted by midnight 10 September 2023 using the form below.

Brendan O'Connor MP will nominate organisations based on the recommendations of an independent consultative committee.

Organisations being nominated will be informed by our office by Friday 14 September, where we will explain the formal application process. Note that nomination does not mean your application will be successful.

Who is eligible to apply?

Organisations must:

  1. Be a legal entity, or
  2. Be an unincorporated association that agrees to the primary contact on your application entering into an agreement on behalf of the Unincorporated Association. This means that if
    your grant application is approved, the primary contact will assume all legal liability and
    become personally liable for the delivery of the funded activity, expenditure of funds and any
    other associated obligations arising from the grant agreement validly executed, and
  3. Have a minimum of 40% of volunteers working for your organisation
  4. Be a not-for-profit organisation
  5. Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or be willing to provide a Statement by Supplier
  6. Form (reason for not quoting an ABN). Please refer to the Australian Tax Office website for
    further information
  7. Have an account with an Australian financial institution in the name of the organisation
    applying.
  8. be based within the electorate of Gorton.

To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types:

  1. Indigenous Corporation, or
  2. Company under the Corporations Act, or
  3. Corporate State or Territory Entity, or
  4. Non-corporate State or Territory Entity, or
  5. Non-corporate State or Territory Statutory Authority, or
  6. Cooperative, or
  7. Incorporated Association, or
  8. Statutory Entity,

AND

Be willing and legally able to enter into a grant agreement with the Australian Commonwealth.
