The Gorton Electorate Print E-mail

The Division of Gorton is named after John Grey Gorton who was Prime Minister between January 1968 and March 1971.

The Electoral Division was formed as the result of the electoral redistribution held in 2002.

Gorton is situated in the outer western suburbs of Melbourne and incorporates the suburbs of Keilor, Deer Park, Hillside, Caroline Springs, Burnside, Sydenham, Cairnlea, Ardeer and Sunshine West.

The state seats of Keilor, Derrimut and Kororoit and parts of Brimbank and Melton Councils can be found within the boundaries of Gorton.

Brendan O'Connor, who has been the Member for Burke since his election in 2001 was elected for the seat of Gorton at the 2004 election.
