Minister for Employment Participation and Member for Gorton, Brendan O’Connor, officially opened the Caroline Springs Civic Centre and Library & Caroline Springs Leisure Centre in Victoria on saturday 1st March.
Mr O’Connor said the Australian Government had provided $550,000 to the Melton Shire Council to build the Community Access Centre as part of the $1.2 million community centre.
“The Community Access Centre has provided a venue for Caroline Springs residents to meet and hold community activities and events,” Mr O’Connor said.
“This is the first part of a larger community hub plan for the area with meeting and activity rooms available at the centre for community use, as well as a café to help attract visitors to the hub,”
As well as meeting and activity rooms, the access centre also includes computer rooms that will encourage residents to develop and broaden their computer skills.
“This project has created a unique centre for residents and will help to meet the need for community infrastructure as the number of residents in Caroline Springs continues to grow,” he said.
“I would like to acknowledge the financial support provided by the Victorian Government towards this project.”
Mr O’Connor congratulated the local community for working together to make this important centre available to Caroline Spring’s residents and visitors.
